RugRatCoupe’s/One-Off-Mods

As some of the Geogia G&Z FRENZY Crowd know, I’ve done several one-off mods to my G. Sometimes out of necessity, then again other times I think, out of Insanity. It’s not like I think of myself as this great fabricator because I’m not. It’s just that more times than not, what I have in mind... just-isn’t-available. So I find myself tinkering with or trying out and fabricating different things to give the car more of a personal look or the function I’m after. I quess you could call it an affliction... umm, I mean hobby.

Since I frequently get PM’d with questions requesting info or pics on some of these mods, I thought I’d go ahead and get them out there and do a post on them. But due to the lengthy nature of this post, this is just a listing of the Mods w/Pics & a brief description...not a how-to-guide (although I have enough in-depth pics to do some latter). Except for the two Categories, they’re in no particular order. Followed by pics with a brief discription...so here goes nothing.

EXTERIOR & PERFORMANCE / One-Off MODS
1) 2006 Headlight Mod w/Body Color & Carbon Fiber accents, & 44 LED's per side.
2) 2003-05 Projector & Q45 lens Headlight mod(in progress).
3) Carbon Fiber C-Pillars.
4) BackLite NISMO Front Grill Emblem.
5) Sanded front Grill for a brushed Aluminum look.
6) Carbon Fiber finished MAF.
7) Cut down engine cover w/ Carbon Fiber accents.
8) ings+1 Hybrid Aero kit w/ moulded in front lip & rear bumper & Carbon Fiber Exhaust Facia.
9) A.P. Racing Big Brake kit w/body colored(D.G.) aluminum hats & body colored lettering on the calipers.
10) Methanol / Water Injection a one off system using a combination of Aqua-mist & Snow Performance pieces.
11) Taillight dual LED’s per side & clear leds(in progress).
12) Blacked-Out lower Exhaust Facia using high performance low gloss vinyl(before ings+1 aero kit).

INTERIOR / One-Off Mods
1) FIVE-SEAT CONVERSION w/ Lap Belt / Interchangable Pad & Rear Seat Console.
2) Glowing Drink Holder Illumination Mod.
3) NISMO JDM Customized Horn Button.
4) Passport G-Timer installed & hidden in the upper console cubby w/ activation button located on driver’s side power point.
5) Blue LED to replace Red Security LED in the Clock Bezel to indicate Methanol/H2o is in operation from 3/4’s to Full throttle.
6) Hidden Blue Methanol/H2o activation switch when switched on lights up drivers footwell.
7) Front Console anti-skid material for drink holder.
8) INFINITI Shift Knob w/ Dark Red painted #’s.
9) NISMO Clock Mod.

EXTERIOR & PERFORMANCE / One-Off MODS

1) 2006 Headlight Mod.

I disassembled the chrome bezel & painted the light gray triangular anti-reflective piece above the fog light bezel & the top of the HID Projector housing, body color (Diamond Graghite) to match the car.
Also added Carbon-Fiber accents & a really Small Nismo emblem below the fake Clearance strip..

Lighting Mods Include 6000k Philips Ultinon D2S Bi-Xenon HID Bulbs, w/ 44 LED's per side.
Including:

7 White LED's following the outside outline of the top light bezel,
5 White LED's in a gatling-gun grouping mounted in a 2" PIAA Projector
1 25/LED 3156-A25 Amber (Blinker Only) Turn signal bulb
3 Purple LED's in the HID Projector
1 Purple LED in lower fog light bezel
1 Amber LED (Blinker Only) in lower fog light bezel(in the 168/194 city light spot)
2 Amber LED's (Blinker Only) above HID bezel
All White & Purple LED's come on as Parking lamps...

2) 2003-05 Projector & Q45 lens Headlight mod

Thes will have Bosch M3 HID Projectors in the Top Bezel & Q45 Lenes in the bottom Bezels...(still working on these).

3) Carbon Fiber C-Pillars.

These are the Carbon Fiber C-Pillar (were the back side windows end) Pieces I fabricated a while back. Since I had my car repainted, I'm now working on what I think is a better looking design.
IMO...I always thought that the abrupt Vertical C-Pillar that helped define the strong shoulders & good looks of the G35 Sedan, didn't work as well on the Coupe.
I think they help accentuate the Coupes sleek profile while helping the rear window trim pieces to retain their lines...

4) BackLite NISMO Front Grill Emblem.

5) Sanded front Grill for a brushed Aluminum look.

I've since taked this grill off & replaced it w/ a new one since it was pretty beat up.
I haven't sanded my new grill yet, but plan to soon...

6) Carbon Fiber finished MAF.

This mod was done more for under hood aesthetics. I wrapped the MAF in C.F.(the black plastic just wasn't cutting it).

7) Cut down engine cover w/ Carbon Fiber accents.

The Engine Cover had to be cut-down to accomodate the Polished Crawford "Z" Plenum, which is higher than the stock intake plenum...Carbon Fiber Accents were added (because I LIKE Carbon Fiber).

Pic is before polished Cam-Covers & I didn't notice it at the time I was taking the picture, but the Engine Cover had my dirty finger prints all over it

8) ings+1 Hybrid Aero Body Kit

With moulded in Front Lip & Aero Rear Bumper & Carbon Fiber Exhaust Facia.

10) Methanol/Water Injection.

This is a one off system using a combination of Aqua-mist Injector Nozzles (I liked the design of their nozzles a little better) & Snow Performance Pump, Tank, Plumbing & Wiring pieces.
Typically you see these type of systems in F.I.(Forces Induction) Vehicles only. But after doing a little research & talking with Matt, at www.SnowPerformance.net I discovered that Meth./H2o Injection was also benificial to High Compression N.A.(Naturally Aspirated) engines, although not as dramatically.
This application is best realized in warm climates(I'm in HotLanta). The Methanol & Water typically raise the fuel octane two to three points while lowering intake temps back to around 60 degrees f. Other Benefits include: 10-15 HP, increasing Intake air density, cleaning-up & preventing Carbon buildup on valves, valve seats & pistons & helping the ECU to give you the benefits of Full Timing on those Hot Summer days instead of retarding the timing...
